Started at horse shoe bend  at around noon Monday. Dad just bought a new boat and he wanted to take it. We caught 7 crappie all were about 20 ft deep suspended over trees in 40 ft of water on minnows with a 16th oz jig head. Just cast over the brush and let it fall most of the time when you started your retrieve you would have a fish on. I had to pick my son up from school so we only got to fish for about 2 hours. Went back today and got a earlier start at around 7.30 and it was basically the same thing but this time we caught 20 keeper crappie and 1 short also lost one that would have been pushing 16 in right at the boat. As for the new boat It is great it is a ranger z118. Makes my 185 tracker feel tiny. After using the new genIII electronics I think I need one. Sorry no pics my smart phone is trying to go to phone heaven and I have not bought a new one

It is nice it makes finding under water structure a lot easier his has side scan and the way we found crappie with was idle  along and when you saw a tree with lots of white dots in it we would mark it as a way point then go back and usually catch fish out of it

My Gen 2 sides can is nice but doesn't always show fish clearly. Sometimes it does. Depends on size, clarity, speed, etc.

we would usually double check what we were seeing with regular sonar. It was interesting to note that most of the trees we caught fish out of you could see the fish on the side scan. It seemed like we had more success by fishing the tree we could see the fish in than the ones around it that we could not see them in

I also launched at HB Monday morning. Looks like my crappie milk run has finally come to life this year. I cleaned a dozen, but all of mine were 25' + deep.

Nice job! Crappie sounds pretty darn good.
