Dan the fisherman Posted September 6, 2015 Posted September 6, 2015 A buddy and I have plans to finally float the 11 point. We out. 25-30 to float. I'm a big fisherman and would love to get into some smallies and trout. I am thinking about doing about 20 miles of actual floating. N e body have n e ideas of which stretch to float? I've looked at the mile by mile description but that doesn't really talk about fishing. I would like to get into smallies for a couple of days and the rest trout fishing.. N e advise is welcomed. ?
Brian Sloss Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 By the end of Oct the stretch from Cane to Greer might be too low to float, but if it is not, here is a good option. Cane Bluff to Whitten, which is in the 20 mile range. Cane Bluff to Greer is smallmouth water, Greer to Turner is blue ribbon trout and Turner to Whitten is white ribbon trout. There are pockets of smallmouth in the trout water. If the weather has cooled a lot by then, you will find lots of smallmouth in the trophy trout area too, especially in the first mile or so. Otherwise you could do Whitten to 142 or myrtle which is 17 or 21 ;miles respectively. The first 8 miles will have white ribbon trout and the rest will predominately have bass. www.elevenpointflyfishing.com www.elevenpointcottages.com (417)270-2497
Dan the fisherman Posted September 7, 2015 Author Posted September 7, 2015 Thanks a bunch Brian... Sounds like cane to whitten would be the best of water is high enough. What's low for this river?
Brian Sloss Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 If the cfs gets below 575-600 you will start to drag in a number of the shoals. www.elevenpointflyfishing.com www.elevenpointcottages.com (417)270-2497
Dan the fisherman Posted September 8, 2015 Author Posted September 8, 2015 Ok. I'll keep an eye on that thanks again
Dan the fisherman Posted September 14, 2015 Author Posted September 14, 2015 Now just to be sure.. The gauge I should be looking at is the Bradley gauge in MO. Correct?
