Members Nharris Posted September 7, 2015 Members Posted September 7, 2015 I was hoping i could get some advice. Ive never fished norfork tailwater. I. Plannin on coming down there next weekend. I was wondering what kind of flies are productive down there and how water flow has been? Does norfork tailwater fish pretty similar to taneycomo where the scud is king. Just lookin for some catch and release fishing. Thanks for any advice given.
Amery Posted September 7, 2015 Posted September 7, 2015 Scuds will catch em, the midge is the king though. Sz 18-22(and smaller) I honestly think they have been running a bit of water but who knows by next week.
Members Nharris Posted September 8, 2015 Author Members Posted September 8, 2015 Right on. I appreciate the info. Hopefully water wont be running hard. North fork white river is my back up plan if i cannot wade the tail water.
Nighthawk Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 # 18 Harvester midge 15" under an indicator, dead drift up by the dam or down in handicapped area.
Members Nharris Posted September 9, 2015 Author Members Posted September 9, 2015 Thanks for the advice. Been tying several different midges the last few days. Ready for a great weekend.
Members nymphermaniac Posted March 23, 2016 Members Posted March 23, 2016 Can't beat a zebra midge black, silver bead and rib in 16-20 on the NF. Depth varies considerably from about 18" to 3' depending on where you are and how the fish are acting.
