Fished from 6:30 til about 9:30 or so in Big Clifty arm both mornings and had a great time.  Had a 7 year old with us each morning and it worked out great for catching some fish.  The backs of the creeks are filled with balls of bait fish and the small spots and smallmouth are all over them.  Was throwing topwaters and swimbaits.  I was throwing a pro blue colored Bass Pro Speed shad alternated with a spook and my cousin and his boy were throwing some Pop-R's.  I would say we caught close to 25 fish each morning, the biggest maybe going 12 inches, but was still a lot of fun.  The 7 year olds new favorite way to fish is with topwater.  We did see several good fish busting the schools but never got hooked up with any of them.  It was definitely a perfect setup for taking the little man out and getting him on some fish.

Before we found the fish in the back of the creeks we had caught a few spots on some main and secondary points using the Ned rig.  It was pretty slow though.  Tried dragging a jig and using a drop shot as well and never had any luck with those.

Good report! Thanks.

Love to see kids doing well--especially on topwater.  I well remember the first smallmouth I got on top, and that was decades ago-- I'm sure your young friend will remember this a long time.

This end of the lake doesn't get much love on the board, and I think that's a good thing.

Thanks for the report. That's a good weekend of fishing.

I love the clear water but it's more a matter if distance from home that I don't fish it as much.

I'd say 25 fish of any size is a good day on this lake these days.   Good to hear that a kid is enjoying fishing in general much less working a topwater bait!  That's great to hear!
