Dan the fisherman Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 got out of HSB at 9 am. Fished till 1pm. I started with top water sense it was cloudy and not too late, I had no luck with that.. Threw a spinner for a while and also nothing. Pulled out the old drop shot and got a few KB. I got bored of dragging the drop after about an hour and started to motor out when about the same time I seen a massive blow up! So I motored down and killed it. I hung out for a while and seen striper flying out of the water. Just one at a time though. Not a frenzy. I pulled out a some flicker shad and proceeded to troll with 4 flickers out the back. I trolled for 1 1/2 hrs with nothing. All I know is that I'll be out 5am fishing live bait tomorrow!! Water temp was 72 RyanG, zarraspook and Lance34 3

Dan the fisherman Posted October 8, 2015 Author Posted October 8, 2015 So I made it out this morning and had 4 lines out by 615 am. Was very foggy and cool. Not not quite enough for me to get jacket on, but fresh n e ways... I marked tons of bait and smaller fish. I did hook up to a spot and what I was after.... A striper!! The only thing is, it wasn't quite the size I was looking for.. Oh well, maybe tomorrow.... here's the striper I caught. Nothing to brag about but I at least got what I went for lol. Vinsott Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 So far that's the size that I have caught in my month of learning the lake. Maybe soon for me too? I did mark some schooling fish around the islands by 12 bridge, possibly stripers or hybrids in about 40-50 ft. I trolled around them and tried a jigging spoon drifting through the area and caught a small spot. By the evening the schools of smaller baitfish were at the surface in small balls all over, but didn't see anything eating them. Then the evening tournament guys must have been out because it got real busy fast with boats coming to fish within 100ft of me so it was time to give it up. Only ended up with small spots, one nice spot around 15" on a ned rig and one 11" crappie that was on the ned also. oldfella 1
Dan the fisherman Posted October 9, 2015 Author Posted October 9, 2015 Vinsott, it should turn on any week now. I tend to cover lots of water this time of the year looking for striper. Sunday I'll cover from RB to PC... Actually I'll do that until noverber. Usually by then I've located them. It's always hard to get on them after a full spring and summer of chasing bass. But stripers do become easier to find once they've moved past PC. Well at least in my opinion ?
