LittleRedFisherman Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 Some folks around my parts find this project kinda interesting so, thought i'd share it here, i'm pretty excited to get the chance to do this. To try to make a long story kinda shorter, I am restoring my Great Grandfathers 1936 Ford 1.5 ton truck he used on the farm. As far as I know, he bought it new, my grandfather was only 14 then, and would tell me some stories about this truck. It was used for years, till my Great Grandfather passed away in the early 60's, then my great uncle inherited it, and used it for awhile till it was finally stored in a barn. Probably 20 or more years went by with it inside the barn, till the barn had to be torn down, and the old truck wound up in a fencerow. After my great uncle passed away in the 80's, our cousin inherited the truck and had plans to fix it up, but it never came to be. My grandfather offered to help him do it, and at least store it on our farm here out of the weather. I got a call from my cousin back in the fall, and she knew that I have restored some old tractors in the past, she asked if i'd be interested in purchasing the old truck at a fair price, I jumped at the opportunity. My grandfather has since passed, but I knew he wanted to see this old beauty restored, so in his honor, and of course for my interest in the truck, that's been my winter project. I've got the brakes working, fixed all the seals and bearing that seem to needed it. I think the transmission is good to go, as well as the rear end. I'm doing most of this myself with the help from my dad, but I'm having the old flathead professionally overhauled, it will be better than when Henry rolled um off the line supposedly. I've painted the frame, sealed and primered the cab, and just fininshed painting the inside of the cab. it's a lot of work, but i'm having a ball doing it, it's expensive to, but dad and I are sharing the cost. I'm getting help on the Ford Barn site, and this is a very popular topic there. It has cut in on my winter fishing some, but it's ok, when I get it fixed I might pull the boat to the river with it someday....ha. Here's a few pics.. Buzz 1 There's no such thing, as a bad day fishing!
