Got to the water just before 6pm..

sun just going down.. and I got down to the water and a guy was fishing chute 1..

well about the time I got there he said he was done...

but he did tell me that he had a few strikes on a dry...

well I fished a pine squirrel watching the water..

caught 2 in about 10 minutes..

well I took what the guy said and what I was seeing and put 2 and 2 together and got 23-25 fish in about an hour....

Guess the fly!! ;)

I know! I know!

It was a red-eared wolff-elk-haired whitlock rabbit squirrely adams pine-hackle caddis midge-crack!!

No?

Maybe a mallard-flank davy-thread butt-hopper-john white river scud-missle shad?

Am I close?

Terry how did you guess that??

I know I have never showed anyone that pattern before...

But I had to shorten the name because that is just too much to say or remember..

so now I simply call it a size 8 crackleback....

Yes the crackleback is what I was using lastnight.. and yes there was a hatch coming off the water.. this hatch happened just as the sun dropped behind the dam.. and lasted till almost 8pm
