Members drew Posted January 6, 2006 Members Posted January 6, 2006 My name is Drew, I am 22 years old. Back in July of 05' I agreed to go on a hiking/camping trip with my friend through the Irish Wilderness. This was my first hiking experience. I didnt know what I was getting myself into, and I dont think he knew how far it was. The first day we hiked 12 miles to the river with 70lb backpacks on. I love fishing, but am retired from hiking. Even the dog (a 2yr old black lab) was limping from walking so much. We camped along the bank the first night and did no fishing. The next day however, still hurting, we did do some fishing. The scenery was unbelieveable. We caught a few, but a local couple with their grandkids showed up and helped out alot. They also felt bad for the us and the dog, so after a while they gave us a ride back to our jeep so we wouldnt have to hike back. After that we just stayed at a campsite and floated down the river. All in all it was still a good experience. I've never fished for trout before, and now dont want to fish for anything else. Im used to fishing for catfish, crappie, bass, etc. I plan on heading back there at least a few times this year, but without the hiking.
