Members BigBass4U Posted January 6, 2006 Members Posted January 6, 2006 I am a new fly fisherman and especially new at fly tying. I have attended a beginners fly tying course and was lucky enough to spend an evening with Jeremy Hunt at Lilleys. I now have all kinds of flies that I have either purchased or have tied. I have been keeping them in the black boxes with the foam inserts. One side corragated and the other a flat side. My hackles are getting mashed down and I have found the that the scuds combed out legs are all out of kilter. These boxes work great for san juan's, thread midges, nymphs,etc.... The specific question is while out on the water, what do you recommend for carrying the soft hackles, floating flies, and scuds? Also, storing and keeping sizes and colors sorted at home? I appreciate any and all advice! Thanks!!!!!

They are cheap about $5 or so each and the click together on the bottom so you can have a double sided box if you need it that way. They are small slim and fit in a vest or pocket very well. The smallest ones have 6 or 12 compartments. There aer larger ones that go up in price but the small ones are great and hold a lot of flies. I have used them for years. If you can not find any locally just post here and I will give you a place to get them. Ron

Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted January 6, 2006 Root Admin Posted January 6, 2006 I carry alot of cheap boxes in the shop- I sell what I use and I don't really use the fancy kind... just the clear plastic boxes for less than $6-7.
