It's been a while but we used to take a couple of big egg sack from 5he and put them in a pot of water with a goodly helping of crab boil and cook them till done all the way through which takes a while.  Them break them up and remove all the membranes, mix in a little salt, olive oil and whatever flavor profile you like.  Typically I went cajun, put some of the redneck caviar on a cracker.  It takes some getting used to, but we'll it's different, lots of people who tried it did not like it.
