Members Mtneerguy Posted March 12, 2016 Members Posted March 12, 2016 Was thinking of going to CC and try some bank fishing off the bluffs. Or on the other side, Just wondering if the water is still way up and if there is a place to fish from the banks. I want to take the family and try our luck for some crappie. Just not sure of where to go or where good places to take them?? Thanks,
waterpossum Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 There is a fishing dock at Ruark on the east side. Cedar Ridge has a fishing dock and Masters used to have one. The lake is about 1' above normal. That might make the flat side (east) difficult because of the buck brush, unless you fished along the old road that juts out. The bluff (west) side is a little more difficult to walk but you wouldn't have the brush problems. Depending the age of your family members and how hassle free you want the day the docks might be best. If you do decide to fish CC with live bait get a slip bobber kit (bobber, bead and bobber stopper) so you can cast but still fish at various depths.
slab slinger Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 It's still a little early for bank fishing crappie. Closer to the spawning would be great area to bank fish. You might Try the turn back Creek area for whites off bank and get lucky with a few crappie as well. I would go after whites now off bank till lake warms for crappie. May try holston mill area on big sac as well. Good luck.
