Members Jim Spriggs Posted March 23, 2016 Members Posted March 23, 2016 Fellow fishermen, In my ongoing quest to catch and release smallmouth, I am heading to the Gasconade this weekend. I have launched my jet boat from Boiling Spring campground several times, but I have never been to Riddle Bridge. Any advice on either: (a) navigating that part of the river and/or; (b) locating fish in that portion of the river. I saw a post recently that indicated it would be difficult to go downstream from the ramp. Thanks in advance. I am still a novice--having started fishing for smallmouth less than six months ago--and this forum is a useful source of information.
moguy1973 Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 I'm not sure what all the flooding did, but as of last fall there was a large number of trees in the water about half mile or so down from Portuguese point that would not allow a jet boat through. We had to portage our kayaks. Floods might have cleared some of that out, but then again might have put a lot more there too. Not sure about upstream of course. Shouldn't be hard to find fish though. -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson
Flatbottom Boy Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 I was up there back in February and they had the ramp closed off and were doing construction in the parking lot. I parked and walked down, the ramp had an enourmous sand drift covering it from the flooding. I hope someone that has been there recently can give you a more up to date status on it. I may take a drive out there this week to kill some time. Ill let you know if I do.
Members Plumbob Posted March 24, 2016 Members Posted March 24, 2016 Ramp is good, MDC finished work on it a few weeks ago and moved down to Jerome to work on it.
