Guest flyfishBDS Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 Terry: Haven't cast any of Harry's rods _ but I tend to like the lighter weight in cane for certain tasks. 3-4some5s. The 5s I like the faster modern tapered quick ones. Like I go for softer, shorter glass for small streams (mostly) I guess in our approach of telling people to cast the rod, we should be mindful as Midge says that a lot of people aren't confident that they know enough to tell the difference. Usually I whip them out the front of the store stick a bunch of rods in their hand usually 9' 5wts and help them develop their stroke. Then I'll ask them to tell me which is the easiest for them to cast _ that is the rod they should buy. Not which looks the prettiest, which feels lightest, has the fanciest name. That seems to help a lot of people who are yet to own or cast a lot of rods. Cheers
Terry Beeson Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 Exactly, Steve... By the way... My Dodge pickup was made in Mexico... Toyota pickups are made in the US... go figure... Terry Beeson Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 Hey Steve... Be sure you get with Harry and at least cast on of his rods.... SAAAAHHHH-WEEEEEEEET!!!!!! I'm savin' my penneys so that when I grow up, I can have a Harry Boyd rod... In the immortal words of Wayne Campbell: "It will be mine... Oh, yes... It WILL be mine!!!" "I mean, there are two Darren Stevens, right? Dick York and Dick Sargeant. Yeah, right, as if we wouldn't notice. Oh hold on: Dick York, Dick Sergeant, Sergeant York... Wow, that's weird." Party on, Garth!!
