vonreed Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 I went fishing tonight for about 2 hours at powersite. Didn't see many people there. Only 1 boat and a couple people. I thought I had a keeper walleye, but when I got it reeled in it was a big fat rainbow. It sure was pretty. And that was all.
Members wildminnow Posted February 28, 2007 Members Posted February 28, 2007 Sounds like tough fishing, keep us posted though I will be planning a trip down in the next month or so, all the info. I can get will be appreciated
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted February 28, 2007 Root Admin Posted February 28, 2007 The reports I hear are either feast or famine... most are the latter but I do hear some are catching walleye and crappie. Actually the reports don't make sense. How do some do exceptionally well on walleye and others I know are good pothole walleye anglers are getting skunked. The walleye should be up there as much water as been running and the time of year.
Members wildminnow Posted February 28, 2007 Members Posted February 28, 2007 where exactly do most like to fish at the pot hole? Forsyth side or powersite side? Out of a boat I mean.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted February 28, 2007 Root Admin Posted February 28, 2007 When I think or refer to Pothole, I am talking about the whole area below the dam- say 1/4 mile down. It's called a pothole cause you don't ever know what all you're going to catch (species of fish).
Fishin' Freak Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 Two of us fished Sat. night from 6:30 to 8:45 with no fish and two bites. We were throwing stickbaits and swimming minnows. We had two "pops" on the stickbait but that was it. We are out the door right now to give it another shot tonight. I will report our hopeful success when we return.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted February 28, 2007 Root Admin Posted February 28, 2007 No generation at this end of the lake at this hour... hopefully they'll be running some through the generators for you.
Jason Essary Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 Is it still allowable to fish on the north side of the pothole from the shore? They changed the access and was just wondering if it was off limits now or if we could park on one of the new side roads? Tightline Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 Coyote, unless something has changed since the last time I was there 2/20,you can fish any place except above the line at the Pothole. They did pave some of the roads that lead down to it and cleared some brush and trees out. Hope Fishin Freak does some good.I haven't heard anything good since the end of Jan.and that wasn't much, and I've not heard anything at all about any Crappie. This evening might have been good with those storms coming. TL
Fishin' Freak Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 Nothing to report other than a skunk. As Lilly mentioned there was no generation. We put in at River Run and fished flats and eveything in between from Barkers Hole down to Swan with no luck. We did run a ways past Swan up towards the Pot Hole but didn't have any luck there either We threw stickbaits and swimming minnows.
