Members steadyt Posted April 30, 2016 Members Posted April 30, 2016 Well yesterday was interesting. My buddy and I were determined to fish despite the numerous attempts by mother nature change our minds. We rolled up to 12 Ramp at 7am and drank energy drinks, and counted lightning bolts for about an hour. As we sat there staring into the water we began to see an immense amount of topwater action. Within a couple minutes it was out of control. Both of us decided statistically we had a better chance of catching some of those fish than being struck by lightning. (which had mellowed somewhat) We jumped out of the truck, grabbed a few rods from the boat and got into it from the shore. i thought we would be getting into some striper but ended up catching a few decent LM. Funny thing happened though my second or third cast my line was wrapped somewhere and my Pop-R snapped off and flew out of sight. It did not phase me. I put it down and picked up another rod and kept going. about 20 min later i was fishing the baby king shad (pictured below) as i retrieved it i could feel it was not swimming right, As it got to me i pulled it from the water and my pop-r was hanging from it hook on hook. Whoo Hoo! The lighning had stopped at that point, we launched and had a few more descent fish in the rain. Still better than being at work. Dan the fisherman, Stump bumper, Vinsott and 3 others 6
chi0082 Posted May 2, 2016 Posted May 2, 2016 My best days of fishing as far as I can remember is right when the storm hits. It's like the fish just wanna commit suicide and will hit anything.
