Skeeter ZX190 Posted May 2, 2016 Posted May 2, 2016 Put in at Orleans Trail at 12:30 p.m. and got off at 6:30 p.m. Water temps were right around 65 everywhere we went. The water sure has cleared up since the last time I was on Stockton which was the end of March or 1st or April. At least 4 foot of clarity. Fished from Orleans Trail to just south of the 215 bridge. Fished primarily with a ned rig in green pumpkin and green pumpkin red. Caught a 13 1/2 smallmouth right off the bat. Also caught a 13 inch crappie on the ned, and later on a 10 1/2 inch crappie. My son caught a 15 to 20 lb carp on the ned. Sure put up a fight. We caught just over 50 fish. Targeted spawning type coves in 2 to 10 feet of water. 6 were keeper bass but nothing over 16 inches. Caught largemouth, smallmouth, and kentuckys. I know an earlier post was talking about horrible slimy moss. We didn't encounter anything like that in the areas we fished. Hammer time, dan hufferd, blacknoseddace and 2 others 5
Members livingtofish Posted May 2, 2016 Members Posted May 2, 2016 Nice catch. I saw in a recent bassmaster article they listed the best lakes to achieve the grand slam which is catching a smallmouth, largemouth, and a Kentucky in the same day. Of course they didn't mention Stockton but I have also done this twice this year. Stockton is a great little lake to fish maybe not as good as table rock but not bad either.
blacknoseddace Posted May 2, 2016 Posted May 2, 2016 What a great report! That just make want to get out there real soon. Great looking Crappie!
Hammer time Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 Great fishing! Thanks for the report. Thats a tank white crappie in full spawning colors, congrats!
