Members TrevorByrd Posted May 27, 2016 Members Posted May 27, 2016 Hey guys, I'm a first time poster but I'm looking to get more into walleye in the area. I got bit by the walleye bug about 3 years ago on one of my many trips to Canada, so I'm still pretty new to fishing for them. These past few weekends I've been heading to Stockton and doing really well. May 13th and 14thI arrived Friday the 13th before the big cold front came in. The wind was pretty miserable in by 14ft deep v, so I launched at Crabtree and putted around those 2 coves. The low pressure system had the fish biting like crazy in 12ft-15ft of water. The surface temp was right at about 65 degrees. I was catching them with a 1oz bottom bouncer with a green holographic spinner rig on a crawler. I also caught a few on a shallow diving crank bait rigged behind my bouncer. Every fish I caught was legal, with the biggest around 17in. It was a great day on the lake as I ended up reeling in 8 species of fish. Walleye, largmouth, spotted bass, white bass, smallmouth, catfish, crappie, and a bluegill all caught on the same lure. The 14th was cold as hell but I still managed to reel in a few. But overall it was a pretty slow day. May 13 WalleyeMay 20-22The 20th took off work early and left Joplin for Stockton. It was overcast so I thought the Walleye would move in more shallow, but I was wrong. I ended up catching them on the mouth of wind blown coves in about 15ft of water again with a bouncer and a crawler. I also caught a few with a purple zoom worm. The 21st was an entirely different day. It was clear and sunny and it really pushed the fish down deeper. I was still catching them in the mouths of wind blown coves but 23ft seemed to be the magic number. Also they didn't want anything synthetic or a crankbait. I caught every fish on a spinner rig and crawler. Near the end of the day a storm blew in and I thought the fishing would pick up. But instead it dropped completely off and we called it a day. The 22nd was another clear and sunny day. We saw alot of teen anglers for the high school bass fishing tourney on the lake. For some reason the spots I hit Saturday weren't producing like they were on Sunday. I ended the day with one keeper and one shorty (around 10in). The Wife and I's Catch for Saturday dan hufferd, Chuck Smith, Walleyedmike and 5 others 8

Dkman Posted May 27, 2016 Posted May 27, 2016 Great report. Thanks for the info. I am heading up to Stockton next week. Mainly a crappie fisherman but have been wanting to learn more about catching those Stockton eye's.
