I have been coming down to Tanye 2-3 times a month for the past 10 yrs .And my buddy and I have put this guy trip togther with for the past 5 years to get away from work wife’s and kids we fish BS friday morning and then Tanye in the afternoon thur Sunday. We were anchored up at the water fall thats what we call it by Copper Creek. There were two boats they saw us catching fish and trolled in between us 20-30 ft away and started to fish my buddy could not even throw a line for 20 min. They acted like we not even there. My buddy and I decided to pull up and moved on up the lake. The other guys stayed and waited them out.I know why now, they were fishing the tournament. How would they have felt if we did that to them knowing they were fishing the tournament and two boats pulled between them. They were in a old fiber glass Ranger and A V-bottom Tracker. What should have been said ? What would anyone else done in this situation.

A couple of shots from a .45 across their bow sometimes works...

I feel your pain, dude... I quit bass fishing and don't care to fish tournaments for that very reason. I got crowded to the point that I just quit... I don't fish for money or glory. I fish to relax.

Anyway, I did have a couple of guys move in on me one time that were fishing in a tournament. After I cast across their lines a couple of times and tangled up their rigs with mine with a "Oh... I'm sorry... I've been casting to that spot for 10 minutes and didn't notice you had started casting there too..." they finally got the message and moved on.

I still want to try the .45 across the bow, but I don't look good in an orange jumpsuit...

Over the years I have become a proficient rock skipper. Heck I may even be a professional if there is such a thing.... :)

I had a buddy of mine tell me he was fishing one hot summer day and had a guy horn in on him when he started hauling in 3-6 lb fish from a weedbed. Well, after a couple of bumps of the boats, my bud just drops his rod onto the deck, takes his shoes off, and decided to cool off... That's right... he jumped right in and spalshed around saying the water was really refreshing.

The guy in the other boat said a few choice words, indicated my buddy was "number one" and sped off...

We just tie on the biggest spoon we have usually 3/4 to a 1 oz and cast right over them and start jerk it back. If that don't work boat paddle smacking the water " Saying I got him, I got him"! :P

I actually had the opposite happen this weekend at Montauk. I was fishing a good hole with one other guy above me and doing very well. A family of 4 cheese baiters waded in below me and started slinging. The youngest was closest to me and kept getting closer. Mom saw what he was doing and told him to quit crowding me. Wow, usually they use the little guys to clear out a hole. I tend to let the little guys have a free run of the place and he was not bothering me at all. I was just fishing for fun and had taught most of the fish in the hole a lesson already. The guy on my upper side however had cast his worm over my fly line several times and has horned in my way since I had moved in. It was good to see some stream ethics being taught to the younger generation.

By the way, a .357 gives better penetration, just don't hit the motor or they will never leave.

Well we would all like to fire a warning shot, but where would we go?

I carry two sets of grabhooks, there is a guide from White River last year that earned a set. Yep I call it the shot across the bow. I dont say a word and tie a set on and fire I dont care what happens once they start it. I can pretty well handle most things, even the BAxter County Deputy that crowded me out once.

Two summers ago at Wildcat Shoals I had been bank fishing and one of the guides would run right over the top of my line.

Fireline dont cut to easy, I think if I can land one of those guides and their Supreme river boat, I get to throw the guide back and keep the boat, right?

I do again want to comment on how profeesional Davy Wotton is, I have seen him on the river many times and he has never been rude.

I have had some guides almost bump boats when the wife and I are fishing, I figure they see we are catching fish and normally good fish, we dont chum have no need to chum and many guides do. We almost always catch fish lots of fish relasing most and keeping enough for a good meal. But there is no call for being rude on the water.

If someone is catching fish stay away from them, they were there first.

You will not run me off my place!! I might bump and grind and be called a pirate for boarding your vessel.
