John Berry Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 The main reason that I use a net is to land the big ones. As a no kill guide, the idea is to take a photo and measure the fish. That way the client can put an outstanding photo of the fish on their computer as their screensaver or have a replica mount made. I always carry the biggest net that I can find and a digital camera. Members armyflyfisher Posted March 7, 2007 Members Posted March 7, 2007 ".......Dink is vernacular for small fish." OOOhhhh....so that's why I couldn't find it! Dang...and I wasted all that time googling "dink." I carry a net, but don't know why. I've become, like dano, a dink specialist! David
Terry Beeson Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 I'm not sure you guys know what a real dink is... Danoinark Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 Here is a picture of one of my Taney dinks..this one known as salmonoid extrasmallus..and yes Beeson your dinks are smaller than my dinks, thereby you are the dinkmesiter. Now had I taken a picture of them chub dinks last time on the Spring, then you wouldn't have had a chance. Dano Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"
Members armyflyfisher Posted March 7, 2007 Members Posted March 7, 2007 I wonder if being a "dinkmeister" has anything to do with driving a Dodge truck? All hale the Dinkmeister!!! David
Terry Beeson Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 No David... It's just that SOME of us don't have to catch BIG fish to make up for short-comings in other areas... You know.... Like those who..... Drive Ford pickups......... Members armyflyfisher Posted March 7, 2007 Members Posted March 7, 2007 Sorry....didn't mean to hijack this thread! Aren't rubber nets supposed to remove less slime from fish and therefore be more conducive to long-term survival of released fish? I would imagine that this should be a concern when buying a net for landing fish. I was in the Local Wally World last night and they have wooden handled nets with small shallow bags for like 6 bucks. The bag was knotted cord - not rubber and the mesh was very open. Looked to me to be ripe for snags! Hey Terry......"It's just that SOME of us don't have to catch BIG fish to make up for short-comings in other areas".......HHHmmmm.........I bet thats why your truck has a HEMI.....isn't it??? David
Members STL FLY Posted March 7, 2007 Members Posted March 7, 2007 Does anyone know where to find or order rubber replacements for regular size C&R nets? thanks
Terry Beeson Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 Jann's Netcraft Cabela's And BassPro come to mind.... Phil, Michael, Steve, Tim? You guys have them?
