Pour Dennis Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 I went out yesterday starting at 7:00 for about 4 hours and could not get bit. This was my second trip on the lake since I moved here and I have been skunked both times. I have tried cranks, jerkbaits, jigs and darter heads. Any advice wouldbe helpful. Thanks Dennis

Hang in there Dennis, it's a tough lake, but when it rewards you it's worth it. The three keepers I had on Wednesday came off a secondary point in a spot about the size of a Yugo. Yeah we caught fish in other spots, but they were real scattered out and they were small fish. Stick with it, it's just starting to get good.
Sam Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 There's nothing wrong with specializing in bass. I've had some fantastic bass trips on Tablerock, lots of them. But it can be a tough lake, and I have no problem with increasing my odds by being willing to go after other species too. There's nothing better about bass fishing than any other kind of fishing. They're just big sunfish, fellas. For those who want to fish for bass only, that's fine with me - but by including crappie, white bass, walleyes, perch, catfish, whatever, it's a rare day when I can't find something that'll bite and be fun to catch. It's up to each individual, and if you're on the tournament trail that's different. But I fish for fun, and that's how I decided to turn some poor bass trips into good fishing trips a long time ago. That philosophy has put a lot of good filets next to the fried 'taters.
