How do you work your spin jig

most of the time, i use a reel and stop method.  by doing this, the SpinJig lifts off the bottom somewhat during the cranking, and when you stop, you let the lure coast back to you with tension on the line.  when you pull over limbs, just let it swing to you after it leaves the limb.  sometime, i will just lift off the bottom and let it swing back instead of reeling.  when cranking, i change speed quite often.  really amazing how often one will really crack it when you suddenly speed up and then stop and let it coast.  getting tuned in to what is a bite is the hardest part.  no two bites ever seem to be the same.  many times just the rhythm of the blade is the only indication of a bite.  of course, you will often get them just hitting the blade and if that seems to be the norm for the event, i will go to a 1 oz. WhizJig, which is a 1 oz. jig with a swivel attached to the hook and a blade added.  most often when the tick it, they will have it swallowed.

when dealing with suspended bass, i just count down and try to reel back through at the level or above where i feel the bass might be.  lots of trial and error until you hit the right combination.
