Dan the fisherman Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 I've been fishing south of the bridge the last few trips. I finally got into them yesterday evening. Fish were bigger on the south side. Drop shot and top water was ticket. Got out yesterday about 615 or so and fished till dark. Water temp was 86. Stump bumper, Bg193ch, Lance34 and 1 other 4
Members Bg193ch Posted August 18, 2016 Members Posted August 18, 2016 Nice pics Dan. Do you think the rain and cooler temps are waking em up? I'm thinking the water temp has to start dropping some with the weather we're having.
J-Doc Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 I fished yesterday afternoon for the first tie in 2 months. Not a bite. Fish finder looked like a blank etch-a-sketch at all depths. Finally found a group suspended over 78ft and couldn't get a bite on several baits. Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. He will treat you like family!!! I owe fishinwrench a lot of thanks. He has been a great mechanic with lots of patience!

I think a lot of it had to do with the location for me. I've been hammering little spotted bass north of the bridge for a couple of weeks. And this passed week I moved to south end of the lake and got some LMB and bigger spots. I'll say this, fishing in cooler temps sure makes it nicer for me lol. Mid day summer fishing takes it out of me.

It's hard to come back and find fish after such a long break.

I tried multiple things looking for what the fish might be relating too. Slope banks, steep banks, transitions of rock, docks, deep trees, channel swings, open water, etc. I was surprised to not see much of anything at all in a very large coverage. Need marine repair? Guest Posted August 19, 2016 Posted August 19, 2016 Have you ventured back up the WE, or did you fish the HC area? I haven't been out in months either. That's gonna change after Labor day, when fishing season starts & boating season's over.

I've been sticking to channel swings. It's worked out ok for me. I'm sure the tournament guys have better info. But for me I don't need big sacks and 10 inches spots keep me happy. But it was definitely need nice to find bigger fish n e ways. Even my "biggens " don't come close to some one like mike jones, who's always hooking up with quality bass. I'll say this, I think there was a tournament yesterday, cuz I seen 5-7 bass boat fly by at about 710 pm yesterday, heading south. I was in the HSB area and they kept going passed me. I imagine they were fishing up pasted HC. But not for sure.
J-Doc Posted August 19, 2016 Posted August 19, 2016 Wednesday night jackpot. I saw a few $60k rigs with double power poles headed towards Coppermine like they were being chased by Godzilla. I was headed back towards PC a that time when they took flight. Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. He will treat you like family!!! I'm slowly working my way that direction but Ive just fished near PC the first couple of weeks after my trip just to get the hang of the lake. Definitely gaining confidence week by week. But that'll all change when October gets here, I'll be chasing bass in tuxedos then lol
