Members lakerat18 Posted August 26, 2016 Members Posted August 26, 2016 Hi all, gonna be visiting family on Table Rock lake soon. I'm really into Flathead fishing here in Arizona. I've read that Table Rock offers some flathead action, but most people don't use rod and reel? Instead they use trot lines? Well, my dad lives in Kimberling City and was planning on trying out some flathead fishing while I'm there. Are there any spots in that area you local fisherman would suggest? Are bluegill pretty easy to come by? I only ask because here in Arizona, bluegill can be pretty hard to catch at times. Any and all info will be much appreciated! Thank you!
jim m Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 not a flat head expert but there is quite a bit of standing tember in table rock from the kimberling area all the way up the James arm. blue guill should be easy to come by. a live guill on a number 8 ought circle hook fished around some timber and you could be in for a tussle. you will find bluffs or points with timber in that area of the lake. I have caught several small flatheads on plastic worms while bass fishing there. good luck and you will like table rock tho1mas 1

vonreed Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 Me and my boys have done quite well on Flatheads down on Table Rock Lake. Bluegill and Green Sunfish are very easy to come by. A little hook and a small piece of worm around any bank area should get you some quick and easy bait. This spring we set out trotlines for 5 or 6 days and caught lots of Flatheads under 10 pounds. One 21 pounds, and one 50 pounder. All these were caught out of Aunt Creek State Park which is close to where you will be. However I've ran lines a couple times on other areas of Tablerock and caught them just as well. As you already know, the bigger the bait, the better. We had 2 pound Flathead eat huge Green Sunfish on 9/0 hooks. Good luck and let us know how you do!
