MrsDucky Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 By now, ya'll know I'm what my grandmother used to call "Scotch", which really means I'm too cheap to pay for something I can make myself! The vise I have (which I am already trying to talk John into upgrading) is a clamp type vise. I like it, but when I am trying to use a recipe off the computer, it is sideways for me to use and see the screen. I had a base for an apple corer/peeler that I thought would work, but it isn't tall enough. Does anyone have any suggestions? (I hope no one is offended by the term "Scotch." My grandmother traced our ancestry back to Scotland, Ireland, and England, so it does apply! And no, Terry and Leonard, it is NOT something you use in coffee!) I can bring home the trout...fry it up in a pan...and never let you forget I caught it! 'Cause I'm a woman!
Danoinark Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 "Scotch." And no, Terry and Leonard, it is NOT something you use in coffee!) Correct, one would not desecrate a fine barley with coffee. Only branch water is appropriate.... Dano For the frugal Ms. Ducky as to a base, a 10" x 10" piece of plywood and on top of that screw down a 6" piece of 2x4, drill the hole on top and on the side drill another hole to put a thread screw in. On the bottom of the plywood glue some of those little round rubber feet. Voila. Or check around in the catalogues, I don't think they are very expensive. John Berry Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 In my humble opinion, Scotch does not require the use of branch water. John Berry OAF CONTRIBUTOR Fly Fishing For Trout (870)435-2169 http://www.berrybrothersguides.com berrybrothers@infodash.com

Terry Beeson Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 OK... I'm trying to get in my head why the apple core-er base is "not tall enough." Not that I doubt you, but just wondering. You could fashion one out of quick-crete. Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted March 11, 2007 Root Admin Posted March 11, 2007 There are some vices are combos- they have a clamp and they can be screwed into a base. I carry the base only - $11.99.

Yes, John I should have prefaced by saying, "only a splash" is appropriate Dano There are some vices are combos- they have a clamp and they can be screwed into a base. I carry the base only - $11.99. There you go Ms. Ducky..you won't find a better deal. Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"
