Members Heather Posted March 14, 2007 Members Posted March 14, 2007 I'm Heather, and I'm the co-owner of yummysmokedham's 16' Tidecraft. Before we bought the boat I'd only fished a couple of times (my first time being last fall), but I find that I do enjoy fishing. I know that I have a lot to learn about fishing, and I just bought my very first pole last week before we went out on the lake the first time this season. I've only ever caught three fish, but it's an awesome feeling! I joined the forum to get some insight into the local lakes and rivers so that we can optimize the weekends we have for fishing. Be patient with me, I like to ask questions (I am a teacher, I want to know it all!). I attached a picture of the biggest fish I've caught. Not much to brag about for an experienced fisherman, but it was only the third one I'd ever reeled in!
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted March 14, 2007 Root Admin Posted March 14, 2007 Welcome, Heather. We always could use another school teacher or two to keep us illiterates in line here. MrsDucky has been a little overwhelmed lately.

Terry Beeson Posted March 14, 2007 Posted March 14, 2007 Welcome to the forum, Heather... and to the great world of fishing! Now all we have to do is get a fly rod in your hands and you'll be all set! As far as Mrs Ducky having a hard time keeping us all in line... Well.. "ya'll ain't never gonna get me to straighten up. Too much hillbilly in this here boy!" Then again, Mrs Ducky has her hands full with just MR Ducky... TIGHT LINES, YA'LL  "There he stands, draped in more equipment than a telephone lineman, trying to outwit an organism with a brain no bigger than a breadcrumb, and getting licked in the process." - Paul O’Neil
Kansas Fly Fisher Posted March 14, 2007 Posted March 14, 2007 Welcome Heather! (Thank God for spell and grammar checkers!) Hope to see ya on the water some day. And, a fly rod will be a nice addition to your arsenal. John Born to Fish, Forced to Work KSMEDIC.COM
RiverRunner Posted March 14, 2007 Posted March 14, 2007 The more teachers on here the better! Btw, if any of you teachers on here know of any job openings for 7-12 Social Studies teachers in Northern AR or Southern MO, PM me, I'm looking for a job!
Members Heather Posted March 14, 2007 Author Members Posted March 14, 2007 Thank you all for the warm welcome! The more teachers on here the better! Btw, if any of you teachers on here know of any job openings for 7-12 Social Studies teachers in Northern AR or Southern MO, PM me, I'm looking for a job! As far as the job goes, Social Studies is hard to come by where I live (southwest, Missouri). I graduated college a year and half ago with several social studies majors who are still looking for jobs in that area. You might check moteachingjobs.com (my district hasn't handed out contracts yet, and I'm thinking that's probably true in other districts as well, so it might be a little bare right now, but start filling up during "contract season").
rps Posted March 14, 2007 Posted March 14, 2007 Welcome Heather. Enthusiastic people are always welcome, regardless of experience. Recent signees for this forum seem to be running 50% teachers. (I am one of those new people.) This is a good thing. Riverrunner: Social studies is the toughest area to find employment here in NW Arkansas. I haven't heard of any openings nearby, but if I do I will email you. rps
