Fished the Osage down at Osceola on opening day. Got the boat in about 6:30 and fished until 1:30 , ended up with 2 fish between 2 of us. The largest was a female about 55# the other a small male about 30#. There were fish being caught but considering the amount of boats on the water I would say it was kind of slow. Couple more weeks of warm weather ought to push them up.

I fished the James River from midnight to about 4am. We boated 7 fish, one was a short fish. We were the only boat with fish the way it sounded. If it stays up in the 70's during the day for a few more weeks, maybe the big sows will move up. We got a few sows about 50 pounds, but mostly just skinny males.

Snagged around Taberville & Schell City yesterday. Saw between a dozen and two dozen bills taken. Mostly all were small males under 50. Personally I ripped off the bank from 7:00 p.m. to midnight and never took a fish. With as many people as we saw rippin' we sure didn't see a lot of catchin'. Give her a week or so and hold on to your shorts!!!!! Any reports from around Springs or Roscoe (just down stream from Taberville) anyone, anyone?????

I've fished Taberville in years past and I've almost always done better there about the 1st of April. I wonder if the colder winter and snow & ice runoff hasn't cooled the water off a little more than last year and slowed down the migration. I didn't even pay attention to the temps at Osceola yesterday. I plan on snagging a couple more times this year in between trout fishing trips so I'll post my results. I'ts sure nice to get real-time reports from people who have just been out.

I made it up to Warsaw today and snagged off the Roadhouse Dock, but didn't hit anything. Nobody hit a fish near the bridge while I was there.

The weather is supposed to be highs around 70 and lows around 50 for most of next week, what do you guys think the snagging will be like the following weekend with these kind of temps?

We started out just above Osceola this morning. No fish on any of the few boats. We yanked up to Rosco, never hitting anything. We headed downstream around 1130 and loaded up. Pulled the boat over to Warsaw got some lunch and put in at the city ramp. Ran down to 65 bridge and noticed every boat had a least 1 on the side. We pulled for a about an hour turned around and headed back upstream and I hooked my first spoonbill. He was around 45 or 50. We slipped back down a ways and went through the same area, within 30 minutes I had another on around 40. My buddy's girlfriend got one about 30 minutes later, she went around 70.

Really a good day.

not quite snagging, but i watched a guy at the truman tailrace catch two spoonbill while fishing for hybrids on tuesday... one was about 50# the second was about 60# on 8lb test fireline. he hooked the first in the bill just in front of the mouth, and the second below the eye. of course they had to be released unharmed, but it was a sight to see. the second had two big cuts from a grab hook on the top of its head where somebody just missed it.

too bad they don't allow snagging there b/c i saw three for sure get foul hooked from the bank by hybrid fishermen.

Cute animals taste better.

My bad, I noticed I put 65 bridge, obviously was the 54. Sorry!

BTW did I mention not only my first one for the year but first one ever! Not bad, started snagging on the Osage when I was 8 before Truman was in, finally getting one now that I'm 51. I'm hooked!!
