Members Brandon Harris Posted February 7, 2017 Members Posted February 7, 2017 Fished the Little Red for several years, but I've never seen any stoneflies (of any real significance) there. Until last weekend. Noticed some pretty voracious rises, so I started paying closer attention to the bugs in the air and on the water. Caught one with my hand, and it was absolutely a small stonefly. Tied on a tiny chubby chernobyl (size 10-12 maybe?), and it was gangbusters. Anyone else ever noticed these small stoneflies on the river? Have I been living under a rock? trythisonemv 1
Plastic_worm Posted February 13, 2017 Posted February 13, 2017 I've heard rumors and seen a few photos but never heard anyone doing any good fishing them. Kinda cool. trythisonemv Posted February 13, 2017 Posted February 13, 2017 Try a hares ear in size 16 and see if they play. I have seen the same size in tan at crane creek quite a bit. Tear them up on elk hair caddis.
