Boobie Posted February 20, 2017 Posted February 20, 2017 Any ideas on whats going on with the birds? Hunted near swan and seen lots of birds but not much love. Having a hard time locating any along I-70. Any thoughts?
BilletHead Posted February 20, 2017 Posted February 20, 2017 Boobie, Not really sure in my part of the state. Fast warm up? Not even seeing much around. Never tried late snow season hunting. Frankly wore plum out from general season and ready for a rest. Still seeing many migrating canadas, paired off local canadas and white fronts too. Good luck and maybe this upcoming weekends cooler weather will make a change for you, BilletHead "We have met the enemy and it is us", Pogo If you compete with your fellow anglers, you become their competitor, If you help them you become their friend" Lefty Kreh " Never display your knowledge, you only share it" Lefty Kreh "Eat more bass and there will be more room for walleye to grow!" Boobie Posted February 21, 2017 Author Posted February 21, 2017 Myself and another buddy had 800 decoys out, which is a lot for two guys, and saw massive flocks but none would commit. Some would pull out but just join the next bunch right behind them. We hunted 3 1/2 days with 2 birds. Really rough...... his first snow hunt. Everything was perfect,no mud, mild temps, south wind15 mph. They would fly out of swan lake in 1 massive flock to feed then return the same way. On the trip home I saw 0 snows driving I-70. Just crazy..... The good side we ate steaks, ribs, spiral smoked ham,and plenty of great dessert!!!!!!!!!!!!! So it wasn't all that bad. BilletHead 1
