[quote name='flyfishBDS'Hey CC the Red Tag I think is way older than the Red butt or Arse LOl>

Exactly what I was pointing out! People change a detail here and a color there and declare a breakthrough. As noted: [ Little new under the flytying sun.]

<Originally it was a wet too, the difference is the Red Tag has a tail of red

the red butt a tag (wrapped thread).>

Gee, golly and gosh! Really?;o)

<If you get any questions on these patterns drop by.>

If I ever get over that way again I'll take you up on that!

LOL sorry CC, I read it differently you know how it gets comminicating through here.

I was trying to be clear, but you were right there.

Dano yeh the Cochy is fished dry in Oz as is the Red Tag.

But lots of common traditional UK dries as we know now were either originally wets, or had wet variants _ like the Red Tag, Royal Coachman, Greenwell's Glory etc. Cock hackle was replaced with hen, and upright wings tied over the body

Incidentally my first ever trout came on a sunken Red Tag :)

Thinking about these flies now brings back some fond memories, a dry Greenwells is a lovely fly, Coachmen are gorgeous, and actually an Iron Blue Dun is a great fish catcher. This year Im going back _ see if I can still fish Tassie style with 'roos on the banks, eucalypt in the air and the peal of a currawong ringing in that high mountain air :)

A Boags in the hand would be nice too :)

Cheers

Steve
