mzrealfish Posted May 29, 2017 Posted May 29, 2017 Good evening everyone, I'm looking for some feedback on which river to float next weekend. Putting on somewhere Friday afternoon. Pulling off whenever we are done Sunday. 18-30 miles is our comfort zone as we are fishing 1st. Paddling is a nuisance unless it is directional for fishing cover or back upstream to hit a good spot again. We were thinking Big Piney or Gasconade but they look pretty out of sorts still and just got significant rain again. Jack's Fork and Current are great but a bit of a haul from KC for 2 days on the river. We've done the Niangua from Bennett to Lead Mine a bunch so that's always an option. I've been trying to talk my buddy into the James for a number of years and we are still yet to float it. Anyone with up close opinions of these rivers right now, I'd love to hear from you. Thanks, Mark
Greasy B Posted May 29, 2017 Posted May 29, 2017 Looks like all the central Ozark rivers got a good bump the other day. Upper Niangua might drop a little faster than the others, flow will be strong, be careful. His father touches the Claw in spite of Kevin's warnings and breaks two legs just as a thunderstorm tears the house apart. Kevin runs away with the Claw. Al Agnew Posted May 30, 2017 Posted May 30, 2017 Just depends upon if we get more rain this week. If not, upper portions of all the rivers should be in decent shape by Friday. If it was me, coming from KC, I'd consider the upper Niangua above Bennett. There's a lot of water above the spring that should be floatable next weekend.
