Members Tanner Wyse Posted August 4, 2017 Members Posted August 4, 2017 Would it be worth it to launch a 12 ft alluminum jon boat from Delaware access? I dont want to haul it down there if I wouldnt be able to fish very much of the river. I am not familiar with how deep the water is in that area and didnt know if it would be to shallow for my boat.
Fish Bork Posted August 6, 2017 Posted August 6, 2017 Are you paddling it or have a prop or jet motor Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana.
Members Tanner Wyse Posted August 6, 2017 Author Members Posted August 6, 2017 I have an electric trolling motor or I could paddle
RSBreth Posted August 7, 2017 Posted August 7, 2017 If you head upstream you should be fine, but unless you have a powerful electric motor and aren't careful there's a fast chute just down from the access that would be hard to get back upstream from.
Flysmallie Posted August 7, 2017 Posted August 7, 2017 There is some skinny water headed upstream. Might be tough depending on the water levels. Jacob McIntosh 1
Jacob McIntosh Posted August 24, 2017 Posted August 24, 2017 I have done it in a 14 ft jon boat the problem when you get above the Confluence of the Finley River is that there's a lot of shelf Rock which can do a lot of damage to an aluminum boat when I went and water was at a little higher level so we didn't have much of a problem but with lower water levels I would think you would have to carry down over quite a few shelves up that way. I have a jet drive on my boat and last winter during gigging season I made it all the way up to Wilson's Creek above Delaware town. But you guys are right the water is pretty skinny up that way
