Members ridered39 Posted April 13, 2007 Members Posted April 13, 2007 Hi all, I was wondering what you thought of the Zebco 202 reel and rod combo. I caught my limit on it this morning and it worked without a flaw. I know there are a lot more expensive rod and reel combos out there but for a beginner that may not know if they will ever fish again what do you think? Ridered39 Just kidding, I use a shimano and browning combo in the ultra light series.
Terry Beeson Posted April 13, 2007 Posted April 13, 2007 The 202 is great! Just be sure you get the Spiderman combo... The Superman combo has a tendancy to slip and the Powder Puff Girls combo is a pain to lubricate... troutchaser Posted April 13, 2007 Posted April 13, 2007 I prefer the Scooby-Doo combo. The natural colors prevent spooking the fish. Do you think my "Sponge Bobber" float collection is considered vintage yet? Paul Rone
Members ridered39 Posted April 13, 2007 Author Members Posted April 13, 2007 While I have some difficulty getting my Powder Puff working in the morning, she is more forgiving as the day goes. A good dunk in the lake shuts her down completly for several days but the quite is good. Will continue using my Bass Pro real tree combo in the mean time as it is easy going and a slight lube of Natural Light is all that is needed to work without any hitch. Keep catching and releasing. Leonard Posted April 13, 2007 Posted April 13, 2007 Power Puff girl rod and reel combo??? Terry... what happened?? I thought you still used the wonderwoman (or was that the Bugs bunny) combo... Or did it just get so old you finally retired it?? LOL...hehehe http://www.taneycomonights.com
crappiefisherman Posted April 13, 2007 Posted April 13, 2007 As the only adult here I think I should say something,,,,,,,,,,,COOL!!!!!!!!! [ [
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted April 13, 2007 Root Admin Posted April 13, 2007 Wow- that brings back memories... Growing up I used 33's exclusively. How many bass did I catch on farm ponds with that rig... more than I'd like to confess to cause back then I didn't throw much back. And I couldn't fry fish like I do now! Anyhow, I digress. I pulled out some old newspaper pics (from the Parsons Sun)of me and my buddies Leland Crooks or Brian Rea and some big blacks... 3-4-5 pounds. We threw broken back rebels mainly. Beetle spins. Small rock quarries were the best.
troutchaser Posted April 13, 2007 Posted April 13, 2007 Yeah, memories. I remember the day my dad passed my old 33 to my younger sister. That was the day I started using my first spinning reel. The Shimano Quickfire with No Fail Bail. I still use it, too. Paul Rone
Terry Beeson Posted April 13, 2007 Posted April 13, 2007 Leonard... No way I am using the WonderWoman combo. I SLEEP with that one... I think anyone who has read my stories knows about my preference as a child and somewhat still today when I'm spin/cast fishing... Zebco 33... Yeah, I have a lot of memories there... and I'm still trying to put as many of them as I can down "on paper"... fly2fish Posted April 13, 2007 Posted April 13, 2007 The only problem with the wonderwoman rod and reel was no fish could take the 2 large bobbers that came with it under... time to end this thread.
