All cell phones in the last 4 years run on Li-Ion batteries. NiCd were on the phones around 2000. Li-Ion does not develop a memory, and also it maintains a charge longer than Ni-Cd or NiMH does. So in all honesty, the best way to get around the lack of battery life is to get a new one, and do not use the car charger unless it is absolutely necessary.
