Members jsharp Posted January 13, 2006 Members Posted January 13, 2006 A group of friends and I have been coming down from KC for the last couple of years for a week. And fishing half on BS around K Dock. The other days on Taney don't have a problem with trout been coming to Brason for the last ten years. We were told by others, late Feb early March but can't seem to find the walley.Does anyone have a better month? Looking for the big one
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted January 13, 2006 Root Admin Posted January 13, 2006 If Buster would learn how to use the forum, he would be the one to answer this... but I'll take a stab. Jan and Feb are the months Buster has caught most if not all his big walleye. March is good for more numbers and a few bigger walleye.

Has anyone been getting into walleye in any numbers yet by the Powersite Dam? Or is the water to low and weather to warm still?
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted January 13, 2006 Root Admin Posted January 13, 2006 It is low- but if they are generating down there, which I hope they are not, walleye will move up close to the dam. Otherwise, I don't think they would be up there except possibly at night. Water temp is cold and good.
Wayne SW/MO Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 No water at the pothole. As far as Walleye the end of Feb. and early March, K-Dock might not be a good as Beaver, and if there's water, River Run. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

I have to agree with Wayne, end of February as well as mid october have produced my best numbers from River Run to the Pothole. This of course is all dependent on water. Bank fishing will have to pull through this year im afraid.

Looking for the big one The walleye will start spawning towards the end of February. This will be a peak time to catch a trophy. Later in March-April you can probably catch more fish but your big fish chances are not as good as in February. Sometimes you might have to night fish if you can't get bit during the day. For some reason the walleye in Bull Shoals are harder to catch than in many other lakes, however; I feel you have a better chance for a trophy.

I had the pleasure of fishing with him several years ago. We didn't catch a lot but I learned more in a day and half than I could have figured out on my own in years. What are boating conditions like down there right now? At 9.5 feet low, is it possible to motor up to Barker from Beaver creek in a bass boat or will it be safer to stay below Beaver?
Members BiteMe Posted February 20, 2006 Members Posted February 20, 2006 Several guys have been going as far as Barker in the last two weeks with no problem in deep-v boats. I don't know of anybody trying to go any farther than that. BiteMe www.mo-walleye.org
Wayne SW/MO Posted February 20, 2006 Posted February 20, 2006 You could run up to River run if you stayed in the chanell, but I doubt it would be worth it. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
