This last weekend, I went to the 2nd US Fly Fishing Team Regional in Cody. I placed 12th overall out of 39 people and qualified for the National Trial in Boulder the First week in October. I almost drown in the process, but Its a great feeling.

We fished the Clarks Fork River and Monster lake. I will have to say that Monster did not live up to all the hype as only a handful of fish were caught. I however caught 1 fish in each of my two sessions on the lake. The river completely blew out and was extremely difficult. I did catch one white fish on the river and and lost it when the river swept me downstream litterally 50 yards through class III/IV rapids. That fish would have put me 7th overall.

Congratulations!!! That's great!

Is there a website giving details of the event. I'd like to read up on it.

I guess there's no video of your spill...

It would have been sweet to see my spill. There was a photographer there....some guy buy the name of Eastman.....aka Eastmans hunting journal, or sporting journal....whose grandpa invented KODAK. He got a sweet picture of one of the team guys taking a spill, but he was only in water that was 3 feet deep. I was over hy head.

Phil-- You can go to http://www.nationalflyfishingchampionship.com/ and it will tell you all about it.

I stayed with Mikey Wier from the Troutbum Diaries for that week also and got to fish with him. we drove up toward jellystone and fished the North Fork of the Shoshone river and caught some beautiful Rainbows, Browns, and Yellowstone cutts. It was one of the most awesome experiences. That little juant made the trip worthwhile for the both of us.
