I plan on coming up Friday and fishing Friday night. Will be there through Monday so Saturday and Sunday nights are open too. Trying to get at least one more trip in before my knee replacement in late June.

Terry how is your rehab going? Hope aquatherapy (wading in hip deep water) helps because I plan on doing a lot the last 2 weeks of the 6-8 weeks I am going to be off.

It's still going good, but I still tire from wading a long time. I carry a wading staff and need it to get back to shore after a few hours of standing... well.. need it to get back up the hill, too...

6-8 weeks after surgery? I'd plan on taking a wading staff. Honestly, if you have FULL knee replacement, I would not count on feeling like standing in the water at that point. But I hope you do...

Terry:

After my total knee replacement I did try the aqua theraphy at Taney just 4 weeks later. I also in addition to the aquatheraphy I used a lot of stumpling recovery quick steps, rock kicking, and a short session of dog paddling back up to my feet sets. I quess if someone was watching from the stream the might have thought I was shuffling or had been sampling some of the missouri gold weed.

Knee surgury may be a good excuse for putting of yard work but it is not an acceptable excuse for putting of any trip to the stream. A little humbling but well worth the effort.

Thom, that's the reason I recommended the wading staff. My big issue on my first trip was making it up and down the hill/steps to get to the water. Of course, getting in and slipping on and stumbling over snot slick rocks was an issue as well... If nothing else, the staff gives you quite a bit of confidence.

I am having trouble getting up the steps at outlet 2 now after being in the water for a few hours, it is not that painful the knee just doesn't want to work. It is a little scary being the only one down there at night and not knowing if you are going to make it up the stairs, at least it is not as embarassing as it would be in the daytime when I have to crawl up.

I have looked at several wading sticks and after trying them I thought they were kind of hard to collapse and the better ones were around 80 dollars.

I stumbled (no pun intended) on one at wallmart that comes in a couple of colors and it collapses like one of the gadgets used to put in light bulbs in a high ceiling. It was only $9.95 and works great. My grandkids are kind of dissapointed though they kind of liked it when granddad put on the clown act in the river. I baptised my new cell phone last summer in the name of the father, son and clumbsy stobborn fisherman. So far the walking stick is working good but I will need to come up with another act this summer for laughs and grins.
