Members Nightbrew Posted July 4, 2018 Members Posted July 4, 2018 Can anyone tell me if it is an easy walk from shelvin rock upstream to the first big corner hole? I don't know what that hole is called, google maps says turkey hollow. If someone knows it would save me a drive. Thanks in advance
Jacob McIntosh Posted July 4, 2018 Posted July 4, 2018 Depends it's not to bad near the banks its limestone bottom so can be slick. Would probably be almost as easy to walk down from the bridge. An old timer from Jamesville called that the Simon hole.
Members Nightbrew Posted July 4, 2018 Author Members Posted July 4, 2018 Thanks Jacob. Can I park a truck the bridge? Or will that upset a property owner?
Jacob McIntosh Posted July 5, 2018 Posted July 5, 2018 That I do not know when I've fished it I ran my jet boat to it did walk up once I've seen people dropped of up there but never seen any one park I bieleve the property owner live just across the bridge you could ask to park there
vonreed Posted August 13, 2018 Posted August 13, 2018 People and myself have been parking at the upper bridge for quite some time. It's not posted, even got checked by a game warden there years ago, with no problems about parking there. It's an easy walk from there. The other way would be much further and harder, but not impossible either. The hole you're talking to has been a popular spoonbill snagging spot for a long time.
Jacob McIntosh Posted August 15, 2018 Posted August 15, 2018 AI've seen a lot of people snag there I always assumed it was ok to park but I wasn't about to tell some one it was ok to cut down the side of somebodies place
Seth Clarkson Posted August 15, 2018 Posted August 15, 2018 Is there a campground or something on top of that hill by where people snag for spoonbill? The only time I put in at Shelvin Rock was with my kayak and I was by myself. I tried to go up the river and come back but didn't get very far because the current was so bad. Right there before the bridge from the water I could see tents up on top of the hill. I'm pretty sure some of the people walked down somehow to try and snag. Surely you could do that right?
Jacob McIntosh Posted August 23, 2018 Posted August 23, 2018 Some pme could have been campong there aren any campgrounds that far up the river the guys snagging walk down the bank from the road
