SALT RIVER

Can anyone give me some info on the Salt River? A friend has hunting ground around New London and we are wanting to make a trip this summer. Is it big enough for a canoe or bass boat? Is it gravel bottom or mud bottom? Wadeable?

A canoe would be suitable but I wouldn't even think of putting my bass boat in the Salt river. It's not that big although I imagine it is pretty high right now with all the rain recently. It will also be quite muddy.
