Greg Posted May 9, 2007 Author Posted May 9, 2007 Pictures? I guess you mean of the flies? I don't think I've ever tried to post pics on this site. I'll may give it a try although my digital camera is only middling quality. The shooting and skinning or plucking seems like a hassle to me too. I'm not a hunter either. I think I'll continue to buy. WebFreeman Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 I do mean the flies. Soft hackles are something I've been struggling w/ (mainly because I can't get the right materials, I think. I has nothing to do w/ my skills ;-) ). “Many go fishing all their lives without knowing that it is not fish they are after.” — Henry David Thoreau Visit my web site @ webfreeman.com for information on freelance web design.
Randall Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 If you are a bird hunter or have a friend who hunts upland game try Quail, Woodcock and Snipe. They all have great soft-hackles and in smaller sizes as well. i tried that with a pheasant skin about a year ago with some less than desirable results. it must've taken me a week to get the smell out of the room. i guess i'll have to see it done before i'm willing to try it again. Cute animals taste better.
