jcoberley Posted July 21, 2007 Posted July 21, 2007 IMO a feasability study, desirable conditions, cost/analysis distance for transport, stocking methods, etc. availability of hatcheries to produce the required numbers the profile of the area in question, access points, acquiring more access points...land ownership, etc. environmental impact and all related concerns I could go on but I'm boring myself, lol IMO the list goes on...just some things possibly to think about. Hey I have an idea! Lets take the money we would waste doing studys and costs and just toss as many Brown Trout that the dollors will buy in to 11 point and say well if they live and reproduce the more power to them. If they can make it as the turkeys have then *BAM* there ya go you will have Brown Trout there for everyone and their children. However if thay dont make it then dont ever try it again. Lets keep it simple and not break the bank trying to do this thing. Let mother nature run with it! Fish slow and easy! Borrowed this one from..........Well you know who! drew03cmc Posted July 21, 2007 Posted July 21, 2007 You are a man after my own heart. I love native species as much as the next guy, but like on the Current from Akers down for 6-10 miles...there is a lack of any game fish species due to the colder water temps from the springs there. Trout would do well in an extension of the White Ribbon stocked area! Keep the Current in mind in a lot of these discussions for they have Bows, Browns, and Brown bass for us to enjoy and all are available in trophy proportions. Andy
Brian Sloss Posted July 27, 2007 Author Posted July 27, 2007 Ihave received the pdf in my email that was promised by the biologist, but I don't know how to post it from my email. Anyone know how to do this? www.elevenpointflyfishing.com www.elevenpointcottages.com (417)270-2497
brownieman Posted July 27, 2007 Posted July 27, 2007 Ihave received the pdf in my email that was promised by the biologist, but I don't know how to post it from my email. Anyone know how to do this? Brian, I'm kinda...well I am the computer moron, lol. I think you can copy and paste it from your e-mail to this site...sounds like grade school huh, lol. Have done this a little but someone better than I at it can tell you how easier if it can be done...c-mon, one of you computer savy's help. I am curious what the (I'm being kind here) "bioligists" ?? have to say. bm My friends say I'm a douche bag ?? Avatar...mister brownie bm <><
Brian Sloss Posted July 30, 2007 Author Posted July 30, 2007 if you want the data from the biologist, just email me and I will forward as I can't get it from my email to the forum. www.elevenpointflyfishing.com www.elevenpointcottages.com (417)270-2497
Kicknbass Posted July 31, 2007 Posted July 31, 2007 if you want the data from the biologist, just email me and I will forward as I can't get it from my email to the forum. Email it to Phil. I bet he can get it to post. " Too many hobbies to work" - "Must work to eat and play"
brownieman Posted July 31, 2007 Posted July 31, 2007 Email it to Phil. I bet he can get it to post. That would be good kicknbass...I think all should be able to see what the reasoning is behind the action's or lack thereof by the MDC...imo, then we'll take it from there. I assure you an interesting discussion will result. IMO it's about time the 'little guys opinions be known and considered'...after all, it's our monies they are spending and we've had little say so on how. My friends say I'm a douche bag ?? brownieman Posted July 31, 2007 Posted July 31, 2007 Just read the report given by Phil from the bioligists. These hybrids trout from my understanding are a cross of the Crane Creek species and a Mo. Rainbow. It is also my understanding that a trout was being attempted to be reared that would more readily have successful spawns in a little warmer water...thus the Crane Creek Hybrid was born...someone please correct me if I'm mistaken. I would like to read further into the study and know the reasoning behind the MDCs hesitence to stock browns?? These results simply show the number of fish per mile from the best of their ability with the methods used. My friends say I'm a douche bag ?? Avatar...mister brownie bm <><
Brian Sloss Posted August 1, 2007 Author Posted August 1, 2007 I notified Phil that he only posted 1 of three pages and that he should put it in this thread and I'm sure he will soon enough. You are correct about the hybrid they tried to get to take off as a wild fish in the eleven point. Also the hesitance to put browns in comes from the USGS forest Service, not the MDC. www.elevenpointflyfishing.com www.elevenpointcottages.com (417)270-2497
Brian Sloss Posted August 2, 2007 Author Posted August 2, 2007 All 3 pages of the data provided by the MDC are now up on the Eleven Point section if you want to view it. www.elevenpointflyfishing.com www.elevenpointcottages.com (417)270-2497
