Not true at all. Anything that can be caught on a line and hook can be caught on a fly rod. The sport of it all to me is FOOLING the fish into biting something I made within a restricted set of options.

When are we gonna do some cat fishing? I make my own dough bait. I used to use blood bait, but you can't get the good stuff anymore. Used to go to the lower end of Elk River and fish the brush piles. You could spend the whole day fishing just one or two of them.

What are your restricted set of options?

Chief, I know guys who catch channel cats on fly rods. Among avid fly anglers, it's not unheard of.

But I don't like to fish for catfish at all. Nasty critters. Don't really eat them much, either.

You and ollie go knock yourselves out.

Heck at one time or another, I have caught a cat on about anything you thought about throwing. I have got some pretty nice ones under willow trees when the mayfly's are hatching.

Nasty critters? If they get more than 1 pound I don't eat them. Now 1 pound and down, that is some good grilling!

I told you, you were missing out.

LOL, SilverMallard, you don't know me very well at all. Ask Wayne or anyone I know, I DON'T eat fish unless it's panfish or Walleye and then that would be a rare ocassion. I DON'T care to flyfish or learn how and I ONLY fish with jigs and artificial lures. If you would like to meet up sometime on Capps that would be great. Personally, I won't fish there again until Fall. I like to fish for smallies in the summer :).

I just said you and ollie knock yourselves out because you told Chief you wanted to hook up with him. Nothing else was implied.

Sorry then, was looking a little too much into that post then. Still wouldn't mind getting some guys together this Fall down on Capps for a gathering. Maybe a one fly competition? (one jig in my case)

Have you got your new toy yet? Gas is dropping down here pretty good. 2.71 as of last night. We might hit another spot close to Jolly Mill too.
