I was just wondering if any of you would be so kind to let me know of any good smallie creeks to wade around the Theodosia, MO area. I ask this having almost no idea about the area, I plan on doing some research tonight. I do know it's right on the lake, but I don't have any boat access, not to mention I prefer creek fishing anyway.

I'm not trying to out anyone's secret spots, so PM's would be also appreciated. I'm a catch and release only smallmouth fisherman too, by the way.

I have had the ozark stream section bookmarked for a long time and never really dug around in the forums until the last couple of days and I have to say this is some great reading guys. I'm from central AR, but still I love to read conversation about other smallie experiences. Especially all these pigs you MO guys are catching. I'm ashamed to say I've only cracked the 17" mark down here in my little over two years of fishing for smallies. Still, though, in that short period of time they have become my favorite species hands down, no contest.

Thanks for the info,

Kevin

P.S.: Al, you responded to this question last year on another site, but when I went I didn't get to get any fishing in.

Bryant creek isn't far from there.

You might explore the feeders, but I don't have any information on them other than that they were probably Smallie streams before the lake flooded most of them. If I remember right, Chuck T talks about them in his book.

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

Pardon my ignorance, but who is Chuck T and what is the name of his book?

Do you have a link to where I can read or buy his book?

Thanks,

Kevin

Hey KK... Hello "neighbor" from an ATU alumni... and former Conway County resident....

I'm a bit surprised Brian Wise, Al, and a couple others have not responded here yet, but, in my humble opinion, you will be surrounded by prime Smallie water in Theodosia. You should get several responses, but this may be in the wrong section of the forum.

Terry,

ATU alumni here also. Thanks for the reply, what section should I put something like this in? I wasn't quite sure either when I posted it.

Thanks,

Kevin

Class of '81... AgBusiness here...

I would post under the "Ozarks Rivers, Streams, and Creeks" maybe under "North Fork of the White" section...

Chuck Tryon..his book is "200 Missouri Smallmouth Adventures" and you can get a copy here www.thargrove.com. Cheers.

As for that area, Bryant Creek is about an hour east..160 east, then north on 181...MDC has some public assess points along it. Florence Cook Access, Warren Bridge, Sycamore, Vera Cruz..You might try Beaver Creek that flows into Bull, or head west and hit the James R. or Finley Creek. Cheers.

Gavin is right about Bryant and Beaver. And Chuck's book will give you a number of options on small wadeable creeks in the immediate area that I don't feel comfortable mentioning by name over the internet. Suffice it to say that there ARE a couple close by.

Thanks for your posts guys. I'm going to have to check out that book and do some exploring when I get up there.

That book is a must have if you are looking for some smallie water.

I use it in conjunction with the Paddlers Guide and a good road atlas.

Can pretty much figure out most accesses with that library.

I waded the S. Fork of the Spring R. many yrs ago as it travels down into AR. Not sure how far from Theodosia but was good small water.
