Bill Babler Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 I have been on the rock the last couple of days. Has anyone fished the draw down? Where, when, and what was it like and what were you catchin em on? http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
jOrOb Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 We fished yesterday. If there is a drawdown, it isn't evident on the upper end. One unit was running pretty good and the tailwater was at 704, so it was a higher water situation. We did boat down toward Fall Creek, and the water is lower there, so I assume that it is pretty low downstream. As for the fish, we caught fish all day, but no great numbers and no size. jOrOb "The Lord has blessed us all today... It's just that he has been particularly good to me." Rev MacLean
loo10 Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 I've been hoping to see some photos from Phil. Where you at Mr. Lilley? Camera broke? Rich Looten Springfield, Missouri "If people don't occasionally walk away from you shaking their heads, you're doing something wrong."- John Gierach

FRENZEL Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 The fishing on Tuesday was great from fall creek down. The big browns were giving good chase at the jerkbaits. Had 2 hooked that were at least 7 pounds. Both were on the rear hook and one made it to boatside and released himself with a 3 foot flip. Wednesday I had 2 trips and we caught fish all day long from just above lilleys to the college,.........some really nice rainbows were mixed in. Jigs and rapalas all day. Bill Babler Posted May 25, 2007 Author Posted May 25, 2007 Thanks for the info boys. Don't be cheering for Phil yet. He may be in Alaska, but he is not doing much fishing. They have a building crew at the Naknek River Camp, building cabins, lodges and an attached living quarters to the Great Hall. This is a bunch of work. I'm going to try and go up when the fishing starts. He has probably made a cast or two, but they are really digging in trying to get all this work completed before the paying guests arrive. I'm way to busy guiding to have gone up early anyway. When it gets to 100 degrees here, I'm on my way up. Rumor has it there will be a record run of Sockeye in the Bristol Bay Watershed this year, and the Naknek gets over 4 million of em. Sounds yummy to me, about late June. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
