Seth Clarkson Posted May 20, 2019 Posted May 20, 2019 Little late getting this posted, but Dad and I planned to put in off Mission on the gravel ramp Thursday morning and decided we would have a hard time getting the boat out far enough and me walking back to get in it through the water. Decided to run over towards KDOCK and put in off the road since the parking lot was under water. So got a delayed start and headed down the lake towards Mincy only to be met with tons of logs and junk. Kept thinking it would clear up soon, but got down to Mincy and it was terribly muddy and junk back up in the coves as well. Fought logs back up to cleaner water and had wasted a couple hours by that point of the morning. We caught a couple on a whopper plopper, 3 on a chatterbait (1 of them I saw it and flipped it in front of it for the bite) and another small one on a popper. Fish ate the bait good and seemed aggressive, so I assume we just weren't around them very much. Last cove of the day farther up the lake had a lot of 6-8 inch bass and some 12 to 15 inchers hanging out. Caught 2 on the chatterbait and had a nice blowup on the popper but missed him. Couldn't get the others to bite, so I assume had just finished up spawning or were about to. Guessing the high water had fish suspended somewhere or just in bushes we didn't find. The one with the messed up jaw absolutely killed the whopper plopper within a couple feet of the boat and startled me. All fish were caught in less than 10 ft. Bluebird sky and water temp was down from all the water running down from Taneycomo. snagged in outlet 3 1
