June 30/ July 1

Recommended Posts

We will be down there to do some camping/ fishing in this time frame. Probably getting there actually on June 29 late evening...do some fishing below the park, then on the 30th and 1st, in the park.

I will have my new 2wt 7' rod then. I am so excited to get back down there, it has been more than a year. If anyone wants to get together for some fishing, either let me know on here, or you can PM me for my cell # and give us a call around then.

Also, Tim, if I swing by, can you show me some accesses on the river below the park? Thanks in advance, hope to meet some of you there.

Swing by and I'll show you how to get to some of the lower parts of the river.

The water is perfect for a 2wt right now. Bring a 4wt if you have one just incase we get some rain.

Really, perfect for a 2wt? Even below the park? We are staying at Mikes Roaring River Hideaway at 86 and FR2260, so the majority of my fishing would be below the park. I am purchasing a new rod in about two weeks and I am debating whether a 3 or 4 wt since I chase gills in the weeds more than I do trout, but am wondering what rod length and line wt you all would recommend.

Below the park a 4 wt would be handy, I throw a lot of buggers and streamers down that far, you will enjoy the 2wt in the park.

Even though I don't do it very much, I like fishing below the park better than in the park. Some day we need to get together and wade a large section.

Well, on June 30th, I am going to be down there all day. On the 29th, I will probably fish the park. Almost guaranteed fish there...Is the river below the park mostly shallow and wadeable?

Don't expect great amounts of fish, there are a few trout. Below the Curry bridge, which is right above mike's hideaway, is the last place the conservation dept. stocks trout, they stock to this point once a month march-october. Below the bridge is considered table rock lake, and lake rules and regs are enforced there, trout are caught as far down as the 86 bridge( a mile or so below mike's) but not many, in the winter months we catch a few more trout down there. For your best luck fish above the curry bridge.

Call down there, Mike's hideaway used to stock a few fish on there own from the hatchery in Cassville, don't know if they are still doing that or not.

Yeah, I will probably be doing a lot of walking. I probably will park at the various bridges and fish upstream with nymphs and downstream to the car with streamers. Is there any dry fly action in that part of the stream? I would probably come upstream to the first bridge from the park and fish my way up to the park. What is a basic fly selection to cover the bases on the river?
