am4mu Posted May 27, 2007 Posted May 27, 2007 Was out and about this morning in Independence, Mo. and discovered something I thought was odd and wanted to throw this out to you all and see what you think. A Casey's on 23rd street here in Independence had unleaded for $324.9. It had premium for $317.9. The rest of the town is mostly at $317.9 for regular unleaded if you look very hard at all. I know Casey's pushes an ethanol mix up here but is this what I am seeing? Any comments? How bout it Mr Ducky I know you are a c-store manager. (not trying to rile you Mr Ducky just looking for your insight). Thanks, Doug Kiefer Doug Kiefer Independence, Mo h: am4mu@comcast.net w: dougk@schulzetool.com
MrDucky Posted May 27, 2007 Posted May 27, 2007 I know Casey's has there own fuel brands , the have a fuel they sell as there premium for less , I belive its ethanol , Its kinda like the E-85 , Our sprinfield store sold it but we are not able to find a consistant vendor , I can tell you though in SW MO we are about 4 to 5 cents cheaper per gallon . Yikes!!! I Hate that warning horn

Wayne SW/MO Posted May 28, 2007 Posted May 28, 2007 It is E-10 and its usually the same as unleaded, but its fallen back. I don't like to jump to conclusions, even though I could use the exercise, but its strange to me that 10% alcohol could suddenly make that much difference. I buy the E-10 when ever possible, I figure its more for farmers, less for foreign oil. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
brittsnbirds Posted May 28, 2007 Posted May 28, 2007 $3.09 at Hy-Vee in Belton for Ethanol last couple of days. Plus you get another nickle off if you drop 20 at the store. Still cost me $75.00 to fill up the truck. Diesel was $2.79 first time in years it has been under gasoline. Maybe the truckers are onto something. The truckers threaten to get into the pockets of the fat cats with all the other goods and their fuel doesn't go up like gas.
Members copper10 Posted May 28, 2007 Members Posted May 28, 2007 Gas in Mtn. Grove at Caseys is $2.99 for premium unleaded and $3.04 for regular unleaded
KATroutman13 Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 Casey's uses a 10% supplement of ethanol in their gasoline. The farmers who produce the corn to produce the ethanol are subsidized by the federal government and the state government in Missouri (don't know about Kansas). This makes it cheaper to produce. For some reason, it doesn't aid in the production of the regular, but only the premium. I think it has something to do with alcohol content. As a side note, it is easy to tell if a farmer is an ethanol farmer. If you see a corn field and it will be cut down to like 1 or 2 inch stubble instead of 12-16 inch stubble. They are able to use every little bit of the corn. I always try to buy from Casey's because it helps farmers right here in MO. Governor Blunt has signed a bill that I think will have 5 ethanol plants built in MO by 2009 and a certain number of gas stations will be required to carry it.

Members Rick F Posted May 30, 2007 Members Posted May 30, 2007 Casey's here in Indiana sells E10 and list it as E10 but so do many other gas stations they just don't call it E10. It is called Premium Unleaded. Not allstations but some use E10 mixture for their premium. Last I read about 150-160 different combos of unleaded gas are available in the US.
techo Posted May 30, 2007 Posted May 30, 2007 I was a little concerned about the ethanol gas, but have been using it. Yesterday I had almost twenty more miles on the motorcycle tank of gas than I have ever had before. There could be a lot of different reasons, slower highway driving and so on. I have been driving ths same bike for five years though. I no longer have doubts about the ethanol and I purchase the Caey's gas. I wish I could pull the boat with my 45 miles per gallon motorcycle instead of a pickup that gets in the teens for miles per gallon. Tim Carpenter
