Jeremy Hunt Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 I caught this rainbow down on the White and never seen a red dot like this on the side of their face. Does anyone know what this is or why it was caused? Accept the drift.....<>>><flysandguides.comVisit my blog
Danoinark Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 I have seen that before and assumed it was some form of fungus. Dano Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"
gonefishin Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 Its just embarrassed that it was caught on a imitation fly and worse yet by a people. I would rather be fishin'. Gavin Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 Dunno but it looks like some kind of scar, hook scar, heron scar, leach, lamprey bite, net injury, something that happened at or on the way from the hatchers...They stock a ton of hatchery fish on the White, could be anything.
Jeremy Hunt Posted May 29, 2007 Author Posted May 29, 2007 I have thought of all those things to. Somebody knows what it actually is and that's what I'm wondering. I've caught a lot of rainbows in my day and have never seen this before. That’s why I’m so curious. Accept the drift.....<>>><flysandguides.comVisit my blog
Terry Beeson Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 Jeremy, Did you post that on Wilson's forum? I bet someone over there has had experience with that... Jeremy Hunt Posted May 30, 2007 Author Posted May 30, 2007 No I haven't. Nobody's ever on there anymore. I wonder why? Accept the drift.....<>>><flysandguides.comVisit my blog
Rusty Posted May 30, 2007 Posted May 30, 2007 Oh, Oh, Oh...I know, I know...could it be the same reason I know?
MrDucky Posted May 30, 2007 Posted May 30, 2007 Im thinking its because of the high pollen count , it must have the beginning of pink eye Yikes!!! I Hate that warning horn
MrsDucky Posted May 30, 2007 Posted May 30, 2007 From what is on the web (and quickly looked up) most fungus is white, and not near the eye. Most red patches are bacterial infections, which could be from a hook injury, heron injury, etc. Did you give him a shot? I can bring home the trout...fry it up in a pan...and never let you forget I caught it! 'Cause I'm a woman!
