tippet7 Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 We will be staying for about a week in the Orlando area starting on June 12th. I will have 1 full day to do some fishing. Anyone have any info on something close to Orlando where I can get some fly fishing in? You are so stupid you threw a rock at the ground and missed.
Gavin Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 Indian River Lagoon can be good..Redfish, Snook, Tarpon, Specks. Hire a guide and get some casting practice with an 8 or 9wt. Cheers.
Terry Beeson Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 LOTS of LONG DISTANCE casting practice with an 8, 9, or 10 wt... for sure... damselfly Posted June 1, 2007 Posted June 1, 2007 if you have the time to drive south a little (about an hour) you can easily get to not only the indian river, but the stick marsh & farm 13. the latter two are supposed to be good bass fishing locations......for big bass... see the link. stick marsh & farm 13 the directions on there are accurate, except the road 'backcock', is really 'babcock'. there are also links @the bottom of the page to other locations.... if you continue going east on malabar road, you run right into US1 @the Indian river.....if you then drive south a ways, you'll get to sebastian and there is a bridge that will take you over the lagoon (and there are places to stop & you can fish) to sebastian inlet & you can fish the salt there.....people also pull over on US1 and park and wade out in the lagoon and fish too. if you locate a local shop they can give more specific directions to the inlet if you want. enjoy---there's all kinds of fishing there and the restaurants around have FRESH fish (unlike what we get) ...awesome! mahi-mahi.....yum..
SilverMallard Posted June 1, 2007 Posted June 1, 2007 I hear there is some excellent bass fishing in the canals, lakes, ponds, and bayous around Orlando to be had with the fly rod. There are guides in Orlando/Kissimmee who specialize in this. I've seen ads. That would be the closest/easiest. But you can get to either coast in about an hour to an hour and a half. And there is good fishing to be had in both directions. Do some research and pick your poison. tippet7 Posted June 2, 2007 Author Posted June 2, 2007 Save the gas and go to Taney instead. It's just a guess...but I dont think mama would allow that to happen since we already purchased the plane tix and booked the hotel. You are so stupid you threw a rock at the ground and missed.
