Wayne SW/MO Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 Dog works, but the regular sized cans of Wal Mart Cat food works better, it looser and oily. Just punch several holes in both ends with a juice can punch. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
gonefishin Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 I have heard there are some really big crawdads in TR. I have heard they get up to 6 inches or a little more in length. Is a 1.5" opening big enough? I would rather be fishin'. "Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote." jcoberley Posted June 7, 2007 Author Posted June 7, 2007 From what I read 1 1/2 x 18 is all missouri will allow us to have. So with that I guess it will have to be big enough. However I wish it was 2 inches. Fish slow and easy! Borrowed this one from..........Well you know who! A proud memer of P.E.T.A (People Eating Tasty Animals)
WebFreeman Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 Here is one made by Frabill. It's 5 in high which is 10 square on the trap. So if my math is right (and that's questionable) each square is about half and inch. There are 3 squares between the top of the ramp and the top of the trap, so it would be and 1.5 inches. It says its adjustable on the web site and to check local regs. I think you could build your own as adjustable as well. I'd guess the small that gap, the harder it would be for the to jump/swim out. I haven't made one or used one, but I think I will. Apparently I have too much time on my hands. Guess I missed JCs post. 1.5 it is. If anyone makes one, get some pics of the process and the catch. “Many go fishing all their lives without knowing that it is not fish they are after.” — Henry David Thoreau Visit my web site @ webfreeman.com for information on freelance web design.
jcoberley Posted June 7, 2007 Author Posted June 7, 2007 As always WB nice trap. I am going to try and make one next week. I will post some pics of it and my catch when I get to use it. Fish slow and easy! Borrowed this one from..........Well you know who! A proud memer of P.E.T.A (People Eating Tasty Animals)
Terry Beeson Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 OK... new reality show... Based on "Deadliest Catch" only instead of crab fishing in the Bearing Sea, it will be mudbug fishing in the Ozarks.... We need a good name for the show... hosted by Mike Rowe of course... So... give it your best shot... show title and theme song. Can't use "Wanted Dead or Alive" by Bon Jovi... already taken... TIGHT LINES, YA'LL "There he stands, draped in more equipment than a telephone lineman, trying to outwit an organism with a brain no bigger than a breadcrumb, and getting licked in the process." - Paul O’Neil
Don Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 It could be called "Hunt for the Redneck Crustacean". Since Eddie Money performed at the crawdad festival in Harrison AR last month, the theme song would be "Baby Hold On" and would be played while viewing a series of bloopers footage. I wonder what his version of "You Get a Line and I'll Get a Pole...." sounded like? Don Don May I caught you a delicious bass.
gonefishin Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 Song would have to be the Crawdad song. Name; Battle of the Ozark Monsters: This weeks show The Whiteriver mankilling crawdad vs the Taneycomo Giant Squid. I would rather be fishin'. jcoberley Posted June 8, 2007 Author Posted June 8, 2007 ummm well I am still thinking on this one! Fish slow and easy! Borrowed this one from..........Well you know who! A proud memer of P.E.T.A (People Eating Tasty Animals)
Wayne SW/MO Posted June 8, 2007 Posted June 8, 2007 Just a note of caution, never cook dead ones. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
