When it gets hot in the summer you can find all kinds of frog chips on the highways. It takes two fly fishermen to gather them tho. One to scrape them up and one to watch for traffic.

After gathering enough frog chips then it is time to hunt up a dillo that has been pre softened by traffic and heat.

Time to dig in. MMMMmmmmm good ol frog chips and armadillo pate'

Season is almost here.

DT, if I'm not mistaken its illegal to kill and abandon any wildlife in Missouri, not to mention it stinks things up and draws flies.

Feral hogs? Or Crows? I've known a lot of people to shoot crows but never knew anyone to eat them or do anything else with them for that matter. How about all the pigeons that are routinely killed and dumped in large cities for being pests?

I would rather be fishin'.

Thanks guys for the info. Vince, I think your right about the fish being chubs their mouth was on the front. I believe we met last week in the parking lot at outlet 1. I had all the kids with me at the time some were fishing and some playing in the water I hope they didn’t disturb your fishing. I enjoyed talking with you and would have talked longer but my wife was ready to go she said I would talk to a fence post if it would listen.

Wayne, I understand about wanton waste but I wasn’t sure if that would apply to a non game fish. Here carp are not a game fish and I have had farmers ask that if you catch them in their pond that you kill them. I hope it didn’t come off as being an unethical fisherman like I said I practice catch and release 99% of the time. I do very little hunting for the same reason but have nothing at all against those that keep fish or hunt as long it’s within the law.

Kayser thanks for the tip about the scoring I assume it would apply to any fish that would have thick fillets.

Thanks again guys, Dave

D.T.- the scoring is not because the fillet is thick, its because there are Y-bones in the fillet that make it extremely difficult to eat otherwise. All suckers and minnows have them, and I think gar might also (never cleaned/eaten one). Scoring allows the bones to "fry out"- they just kinda disappear when you deep fry them, no risk of choking left at all (at least on the bones).

:redcard: WRONG!!!!!!

It takes THREE! One to scrape and TWO to watch for traffic... both ways, ya know... Five if it's in an intersection...

(Aren't you glad I'm here, GF, to keep you in line... )

DT yes That was me. I have gotten into the chubs before above the boat ramp asnd below lilleys. I have often pinched their heads and tossed them back into the water. Im sure the browns and larger bows will eat them and no waste that way. :)

I stand corrected and am humbled in the presence of TB's greater wisdom.

:O_O:

I heard there was a terrible accident involving 4 fly fishermen. They were apparently heading for the local fishing hole with two in the front of a pickup and two in the back when it went off in the creek. The two in front opened the doors and waded to safety but the two in back drowned because they couldn't get the tailgate down.

Any truth to this rumor?

Yeah, that kind of reminds me of the time I was coming out of Taney and there were four bait fishermen in the parking lot looking at their car. I asked if there was a problem. One replied they had locked their keys in the car. They debated on what to do for about an hour before I got there. Finally one of them asked if I had a hammer or something similar he could bust out a window with... Then one of the others asked if I could hurry and get it for them... They needed to get in as quickly as possible... It was about to rain and they needed to get the top up...

Then there was the bait fisherman I ran into in the supermarket. He was staring at a can of orange juice... I asked him why... he replied it said "concentrate" on the can...

Then there was the bait fisherman who came up to me on Taney and was showing me the new cell phone his wife had gotten him for his birthday. The phone rang. It was his wife. She asked how he liked his new cell phone. He said, "GREAT! But how did you know I was at Taney?"

I asked one bait fisherman why he liked to fish. He said he wanted to learn how to water ski instead, but couldn't find a lake with a slope...

How about the baitfisherman who called the computer tech line and complained he couldn't get his computer to work because the screen said "hit any key" and he could not find the "any" key...

Then there was the baitfishermen who took their mapquest directions to find a place where some guys had told them there was excellent bear hunting. They were almost there when they got to the next step on the driving directions. It said "Bear left." So they turned around and came home...

And you can't talk bait fishermen without thinking about the ones who went ice fishing... They came home with 2,000 lbs of ice.... and drowned trying to fry it...

Of course I have to ask how you make a bait fisherman laugh on Friday....

You tell him a joke on Monday...

Hey GF... we might want to stop this... We're gonna make the other fishermen - fly and bait - think we're serious...

:shy: Sorry Terry I really appreciate the offer and its not you really. You see its that My wife already has ownership papers and would probably take exception. :goodjob:

Just one more.

Q:What does a fly fisherman use for birth control?

A:His personality.

Ok. I will quit now. :heeee:

Two fishermen are walking across a bridge...

They both need to take a leak, so they walk to the side of the bridge and start doing their business...

The bait fisherman says, "MAN that water's cold!"

The fly fisherman says, "Yeah, and it's DEEP TOO!!!"

Last summer, I was on my way home from fly fishing the North Fork. I had a flat tire and no spare during a storm that night and walked to get help at a nearby monestary. A monk answered the door and invited me to have dinner and stay the night. I gladly accepted and I ate an awesome supper of fish and chips.

When I was finished, I walked back into the kitchen to tell the cook thanks. I asked the cook "Are you the fish friar?" He said "No, I'm the chip monk."

:goodmood:

I caught you a delicious bass.
